The Crabb Family: Disney World- Day 1 Continued

Before we left for DW, I showed Sam a bunch of pictures and videos of the attractions so he could decide which ones were really important to him. The very first thing he wanted to see? The model train village in Germany at Epcot and the monorail! That boy loves some trains.

So we headed to Epcot that first night in our raincoats. It was drizzling but nothing terrible. When we got to Epcot, Sam was immediately worried that the giant golf ball was gonna land on him. He was also terrified of the fountains. He actually pulled the stroller shade down over his head to hide- my sensitive boy with a wild imagination. But we found a kiosk selling giant M&M cookies and that quickly took his mind off of the scary stuff. Cookies for supper? Sure! We're at Disney World!

By the time we got to the Germany pavilion, it was dark and only one train was running. We watched for about 20 minutes and promised to come back during the day. Sam was also starting to get worried about the fireworks. The child cannot handle fireworks. So we headed for the next thing on his 5-year-old Must Do list- the monorail! He had heard that this MONORAIL WENT THROUGH A HOTEL and he really wanted to see that. We were starving and since we'd missed item #8 on my Thursday itinerary- "Eat pizza at Via Napoli in Italy at 6:30 after watching trains in Germany"- by about 3 hours, we thought we'd grab something at the Contemporary (that's the HOTEL THAT THE MONORAIL GOES THROUGH).

At 9 p.m., we arrived at the Contemporary and began looking for f-o-o-d. I decided to walk up to Chef Mickey's and just see if there might possibly be room. I had been trying to get a reservation there since we made our Disney World plans months ago and couldn't get in. Not even at like 3:45 in the afternoon. Totally booked. But on Thursday night at 9:00 p.m., there was a free table! Thank goodness for a broken itinerary. We had the best time! We got to meet Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Donald and of course, Chef Mickey. The food was pretty good and the kids loved the ice cream bar. We were there until almost 11, and not back at our hotel until midnight. I still can't believe I had my two-year-old out at 12:00 a.m.
