Day 3: A Rough Start with a Happy Ending

Day 3 started about 4 am for me when Sam started whimpering in his sleep. He was very restless and uncomfortable and finally woke up full on crying at 6 am. I think all the excitement and exhaustion caught up to his little body.

He was so upset, said he was really thirsty and hungry. After chugging a huge glass of water, we snuck out of the hotel room to catch the internal bus to the Food Court. And then he vomited. All over the back of the bus. I guess it's not really Disney World until somebody throws up.

Sooo after he yakked he said he felt much better and wanted a biscuit. And since this is Disney World and real world rules like 'Don't spread your vomit germs around' don't apply, we went on to get a biscuit. Hey, when in Rome...

Even though he seemed much better after breakfast, I decided we should scratch our morning plans to go back to the Magic Kingdom and rest a little. We laid around and watched the Disney Channel (of course), took naps and payed at the pool. The kids LOVED the resort pool. The main pool had all these tunnels and slides and cannons spraying fountains. The kiddie play area had a giant pirate ship with slides, a waterfall and a huge barrel that dumped gallons of water out of it every two minutes. Everything about Disney is just so perfect for kids and families- there were complimentary life jackets, the pool was zero entry and no less than six lifeguards were patrolling the water at all times.

Sam didn't want to go down the big slide but he begged me to... it was fun!

Saturday afternoon we decided to go back to Epcot. Nana and Papa were able to join us, and Sam really wanted to show Papa the model train village.

As soon as we got there, we spotted Daisy and Stitch. Sam and Ellie both love Daisy but neither of them have any idea who Stitch is. Still, Sam wanted to take a picture with him.

Next we headed to The Seas with Nemo and Friends. Major meltdown with Sam here. He said from the beginning he didn't want to do it- he has a big fear of Bruce and the ocean in general- but so many people had told me it was fun and harmless that I thought I would see if I could push him a little. Uh, nope. He FREAKED the closer we got to the ride and we had to take the emergency exit. To his credit, it was dark and creepy down there. Ellie loves Nemo, though, so she rode it with Nana and Papa while we went to see Turtle Talk with Crush. Which, if I have to be honest, was Bo-Ring. Even Sam was asking 10 minutes into it if we could leave.

They did both love watching the seagulls say, 'Mine! Mine! Mine-mine-mine-mine!' like in the movie.

Next we headed to World Showcase. Epcot was a great place to meet characters. Hardly any lines and some of our favorites!

Marie from Aristocats (one of our favorite movies!) came to France. So did Belle but she was with the Beast and my kids weren't going near that.

Back to England to meet my favorite- Mary Poppins. I think I was really expecting Julie Andrews to come floating out of the sky...

After grabbing a couple ok a huge bag of pastries at the Patisserie in France, we walked over to Germany to see the trains again. Surprise- Snow White was there!

...so Sam told her, 'no kissing, only hugs!'

We toured the rest of the World Showcase a little. Clay sampled the bordeaux in France, beer in Germany, sparkling wine in Italy and margaritas in Mexico. He was a little smiley ;)

Finally we stopped for a yummy supper of tacos, margaritas and churros in Mexico. We were all pretty worn out and headed back to the resort for baths and early bed- we all needed to rest up for our early breakfast with the Disney Jr. gang at Hollywood Studios!
