Ellie is TWO!

Ellie turned two on June 2nd. We celebrated a little that day with presents and birthday brownies; we celebrated a lot the following Sunday with friends, cupcakes and ice cream cones at Cafe 212. Papa, Susie and Bo came into town for the weekend, and so did Aunt LaLa and Uncle Jack!

Ellie amazes me at two years old. I don't know if it is because she has an older sibling or because she is a girl but she is so much more verbal than Sam was at this age. She speaks in full sentences, repeats EVERYTHING and also relates on a much more emotional level. It's striking to see the difference in boys and girls in this regard; she is very nurturing and talks about her babies being sad or happy, says 'I love Mommy, I love Daddy, I LOOOOVE Bubba,' without being prompted.

She loves to sing; 'Happy Birthday' and 'Rock-a-bye Baby' are her favorite songs. She talks CONSTANTLY... 'where mommy? where daddy? daddy at work? daddy at work! daddy back at supper? what supper? i hungry. hot dog? have hot dog! NO SADIE! GO OUTSIDE. GO WAY! Ellie go outside? where Toto? where Lulu? Lulu get haircut? Lulu get haircut? I loooove Lulu. Ellie get haircut? Go see Lillie? Lillie eat carrots. where Sam Crabb? GO GET SAM CRABB! GO GET SAM CRABB!'

She still eats all the time, although she is slightly pickier than she used to be. She will still pretty much try anything you put in front of her but she doesn't gobble up green beans anymore. She loves hot dogs, french fries, chickpeas, watermelon, eggs, french toast, spaghetti, berries and yogurt. And of course she loves 'i-keam'.

The cutest thing she does is say 'all-wight'. To pretty much everything. 'Where Daddy?'... 'Daddy's at work.'.... 'Allwight'. ... 'Go outside?'... 'We'll go outside after lunch'... 'All-wi-ight'. It's pretty cute.

The terrible twos have definitely shown up- she can throw a tantrum bigger than Sam ever did. And she has opinions about things he never cared about- what shoes she is gonna wear, what color bow, etc. She loves to get in my make-up drawer and try on my shoes.

Babies grow up so fast... Sam and Ellie have been taking swimming lessons together and she is doing great with them. She will start 'school' for the first time this fall- two days a week at FUMC.  Right now she is sitting at the kitchen table 'writing' with a pencil like a 6-year-old. Just yesterday she was my snuggly little hip baby. I love you Ellie-bird, you are such a JOY in our lives!
