On Monday we visited Animal Kingdom. This is the one park that neither Clay or I had ever been to. It is HUGE and very impressive. Like a zoo with all your favorite Disney stuff thrown in. We got there pretty early, grabbed coffee and an apple fritter the size of my face and headed straight for 'Africa'.
Ellie spotted this bird walking through what's called 'The Oasis'. We had to drag her away. She kept asking all day when we could go back and see the 'pawwot'. And Sam would say, 'Actually it's a Macaw.' To which Ellie would reply, 'No its not, Bubba, it a bird.'
I snapped this picture of Everest in Asia from the bridge in Africa. We actually never made it over to Asia that day. Maybe next trip...
Walking through the 'Harambe' village in Africa. I wish we had more time to hang out and shop here. The stores carry authentic crafts and art from 26 African nations. We did get to watch some Nigerian musicians and dancers perform outside of Tusker House. And Sam did some very interesting tribal dancing of his own.
We rode the train to Rafiki's Planet Watch, which is basically a giant bug house. With some snakes and turtles, too. Sam was in heaven.
I cannot remember the names of any of these animals...

Next we rode the Kilimanjaro Safaris. We loved it! You get in a real open-air safari vehicle and ride through the 'savannah' Disney has created. It seemed pretty realistic to me and we saw LOTS of animals.

We saw TWO baby elephants. The one on the left was several months old; the baby on the right was born just weeks before our visit!

After the safari was over, we explored the Pangani Forest Trail. The kids tried a little bird-watching, something that both their Grammy and G.G. love to do.
We checked out the hippo underwater.
